As an author you must know that no work is error-free. A reviewer can help you refine your work further. But there are many publishing houses and editors, what if they alter the entire narration? Which might hamper the story line. This might further create a dilemma—whether to go with the changes or stick to your storyline. This is where our platform comes into the picture.
Our platform is here to handle the basics so you can focus on your next exceptional story. We will help you reach a bigger audience. But there are few guidelines you have to adhere to.
Here are the submission guidelines for you:
♣ Formatting of the Manuscript
Apt formatting will not guarantee publication; neither will poor formatting guarantee rejection, however, if you’ve worked hard on your manuscript why won’t you take little effort to turn this manuscript into a book.
What to do to earn brownie points?
- Your manuscript should be in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf, .txt
- The manuscript should be formatted in 12-point type, with one-inch margins, and sequentially numbered pages
- Use roman, italic, and bold consistently
- Be consistent in the use of spacing and indentation
- Craft a header with the title followed by your last name and the page number. The header should appear on each page after the title page.
Front Page
The author’s name, address, telephone number, and email address should be placed on the first page (You can also include the author’s bio)
Not a Clumsy Order
As the story should connect throughout the pages it is important that the book also follows a uniform order,
- The title page will consist of the book title and subtitle, editor/author names
- Contents list can include sections or parts as per the requirement of the story
- Dedication (optional)
- Contributors list all arranged alphabetically by the surname, with affiliation and email address for each contributor
- Foreword (optional), written by someone other than the author and tell why should we read the book
- Preface (optional), written by the author to let your readers know how and why the book came into being
- Acknowledgments (if any), thank everyone who helped you with your book
- Introduction
♣ Respect Word Count Guidelines
We understand that each story has its own natural length, which might not fit in the given guidelines, and if this is the case by ready with your reason to fall outside the norm.
Short Story
- ‘Short’ Short Story: Under 500 words
- Short Story: Between 1000-8000 words
- Long Short Story: Between 5000-10,000 words
Novella
Between 10,000-40,000 words
Novel
50,000 word novels is a minimum word count. If the length exceeds 110,000 words, we would suggest you cut back a little. Here is a genre-wise detailed word limit:
- Adult fiction (commercial and literary) (Between 80,000-100,000 words)
- Science and fantasy fiction (Between 90,000-120,000 words)
- Romance novels (Between 50,000-100,000 words)
- Historical fiction (maximum100,000 words)
- Crime/Mysteries/Thrillers/Horror fiction (Between 70,000-90,000 words)
- Young adult fiction (Between 50,000-80,000 words) ~can be exceptions depending on the sub-genre
- Non-fiction (Between 50,000-75,000 words)
